"In June this year, we ran a Mastering Communications for Persuasion course in Perrysburg, Ohio. We had run the course in Europe for a number of years, but this was the first time it was introduced to our American employees. The three-day course, run by Matthew Snaith from Liberation International, is based around improving communication skills, and it was attended by participants from BCNA, Healthcare and Global functions.
The aim of the course is to enable people to change their attitude towards communicating and make a significant contribution to the results of their interactions. It improves the participants' confidence and helps them communicate in their most natural and effective style. This leads to the ability to influence others for positive buy-in, and achieve more sustainable win-win agreements in negotiations.
The course is a far cry from a traditional classroom/PowerPoint exercise. Participants try out a number of exercises, including breaking a plank of wood with their own hands.
One of them, Carol Norton, Supply Chain Commodity Manager, Rexam Plastic Packaging said: “In the 37 years I’ve been in this business I’ve never had a training session that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed … until this one. Nobody could possibly be bored when attending his program. I’m looking forward to applying the techniques immediately. The material content is fascinating.”
Theresa Dhondt, Accounts Receivable, Rexam Plastic Packaging, another participant, added, “This was by far the best communication training class I have ever taken. I learned many new tools that will apply to my daily responsibilities as well as future positions.”
After the great reception in the US, we are now looking forward to delivering it again in Europe in November. Demand for this course has been so great that we are running three of them in Europe this year instead of the one originally scheduled.
