It has been such a privilege to spend 3 days on the Reach course with you - i was looking forward to it hugely anyway, but it exceeded all my expectations and i think it will be a huge benefit to us as a team, particularly when the rest of the sales force and head office team have been on it too. Really interesting, motivating, and indeed life-changing stuff, and has made me think about a whole load of aspects of my life differently not just work. Weirdly I think i have learnt through some adversity in the last couple of years how to be cheerful by telling yourself you are despite other things that may be going on, but it is great to see that this is a life technique as I had thought i might just be ‘compartmentalising’ or blocking the hard stuff out! Believing in ourselves, in other people and being the promoters of Dwell came across all very strongly to me - and the responsibility I have as a director of the company to lead by example and influence the head office team in lots of different ways, even by the simple language we use. We can be very cynical with our senses of humour as you could probably tell, but time to focus that energy on something more positive. All very apt as we move from a rather critical stage of the business to a more exciting time of growth and positivity.
Nothing that we’ve been through as a family in the past couple of years has been as tough as what you and your girls are going through now. It must seem like such a monumental challenge, but you appear to be as well equipped as anyone can be to ride the storm and as you said become stronger for it, and celebrate and feel lucky that you had such a wonderful relationship with your clearly amazing wife. Better to have loved and lost, etc. But I do feel your pain, and wish you all the strength in the world for the days/weeks/months ahead.
